Child Study Center
At Yale Child Study Center (YCSC), we work to improve the lives of children and families around the world through our service, research, and training programs. Parents and providers contact us when they are worried about a child’s development or behavior. We offer a variety of services and programs for children and families . This includes assessment and treatment for many concerns.
Our mental health providers work directly with children, teens, and young adults. We also help parents and other caregivers with a child under the age of 18. When families contact us, we ask for information to help us choose the right assessment or program to recommend for their child. We work with schools, medical providers, and other professionals.
Many of our services are offered from our office locations in New Haven and Westport. We also have programs in the home and community. Some telehealth services are available virtually to people living in Connecticut. We are not able to provide telehealth services to families outside of Connecticut. We accept health insurance at our New Haven clinic, where we provide assessment and therapeutic services. Our facility in Westport offers many similar services but does not take insurance.
Our Approaches
Our providers include psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, speech language pathologists, advanced practice psychiatric nurses, marriage and family therapists, and professional counselors. We assess, identify, and help families manage many different concerns. This includes but is not limited to:
- Developmental delays
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Trauma
- Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
- Autism spectrum disorder
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
- Tic disorders
- Disruptive behavior
- Parenting stress
We keep an open mind when we meet with children and families. We welcome input from others involved in a child’s growth. This can include teachers, pediatricians, and other clinicians or doctors. We listen to understand children’s lives and address each family’s needs.

A sliding scale fee/payment option is available for many of our services for families who do not have one of these insurance carriers.
