Neurology
Yale’s Department of Neurology has been at the forefront of cutting-edge clinical care and scientific discovery since it began in 1952. It was Yale scientists who discovered the genes that cause Multiple Sclerosis. Yale housed one of the first epilepsy monitoring units in the country, and one of the first stroke centers at its partner, the Veterans Affairs (VA) Center in West Haven.
Today, our highly trained physicians are dedicated to understanding and treating the entire spectrum of nervous system diseases. We remain international leaders in epilepsy care for both adults and children. For stroke patients, our 24-7 stroke team offers acute vascular neurology consultations, complemented by telemedicine, a dedicated inpatient stroke service, and Connecticut’s only dedicated neurology intensive care unit. The Multiple Sclerosis Center in North Haven provides state-of-the-art care for autoimmune neurologic diseases, and features a 3T MRI and infusion center. Our Headache and Facial Pain Center is the only such center in the state.
