Sarah Andiman, MD
Biography
Dr. Sarah Andiman is a urogynecologist—a gynecologist who specializes in treating pelvic floor disorders including pelvic organ prolapse (uncomfortable vaginal bulge) and urinary incontinence. She is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and in urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic surgery.
Dr. Andiman is skilled in minimally invasive surgery, including vaginal, laparoscopic, and robotic surgical approaches. She understands that urogynecologic concerns are deeply personal and can be difficult to talk about, so her goal is to provide patients with thorough information and expert and compassionate care so that they are supported and empowered to make the choices that are best for them.
She studied photography as undergraduate at Rhode Island School of Design and went on to work as a photography teacher and photographer's assistant. However, she found she missed science and ultimately earned her medical degree at Brown University. She returned to her home state of Connecticut to complete her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Yale School of Medicine, and then completed a fellowship in urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic surgery at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
During her medical training, she participated in various research activities and international projects in Cambodia, Rwanda, Tanzania, and the Dominican Republic. She has presented her original research at national academic meetings and published in numerous peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Andiman is a member of the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons and the American Urogynecologic Society. Her ongoing research interests include female pelvic anatomy, patient education, and solutions to improve surgical quality and outcomes.
