Pediatric Rheumatology

At Yale Medicine, our pediatric rheumatology team partners with referring pediatricians to evaluate and manage a broad spectrum of pediatric rheumatic disease, including inflammatory arthritis, systemic autoimmune or connective tissue disorders, vasculitis, autoinflammatory or periodic fever syndromes, and inflammatory bone and muscle disease.

Our role is to clarify diagnosis, assess disease activity and organ involvement, and develop an evidence-based treatment and monitoring plan—often in collaboration with ophthalmology, nephrology, dermatology, and other subspecialties when indicated.

We communicate promptly with the referring clinician and support shared care over time, including medication management, laboratory surveillance, immunization and infection-risk guidance, and return-to-school and activity planning.

Distinguishing Factors

Our pediatric rheumatologists conduct clinical research and participate in the Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance (CARRA) to provide state-of-the-art care for our patients.
