Biography

Carmen I. Carrión, PsyD, is an associate professor of neurology and a neuropsychologist at Yale School of Medicine. She specializes in culturally informed neuropsychological evaluations for patients who have a range of conditions, including Alzheimer's disease, cerebrovascular disorders, Lewy body disease, frontotemporal lobar degeneration, and other neurocognitive disorders.

Bilingual in English and Spanish, Dr. Carrión has more than 10 years of experience providing evaluations to diverse patient populations across various clinical settings. Her clinical expertise is enhanced by her research focus on understanding how social, environmental, and demographic factors influence cognitive health and the development of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. Her work examines both protective factors that promote cognitive resilience and risk factors that may accelerate cognitive decline across diverse populations.

As site principal investigator for the National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded Neighborhoods Study at the Yale Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, she investigates how place-based and individual-level factors contribute to cognitive differences. She is committed to ensuring accurate representation of disease populations in research and clinical trials, striving to address disparities in health care delivery through both her clinical practice and research efforts.

Dr.Carrión received her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Roosevelt University, completed her fellowship in psychiatry at the University of Michigan, and her internship in psychology at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami.
