Rheumatology

At Yale Medicine, our rheumatologists are committed to advancing the understanding and management of a vast array of conditions affecting the musculoskeletal and immune systems. Our department focuses on the intricate pathophysiology of over 200 rheumatologic conditions, leveraging our expertise in both common and rare disease entities.

Our practice encompasses a comprehensive approach to diagnosing and managing inflammatory arthritis, including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis, as well as autoimmune disorders such as systemic lupus erythematosus, systemic sclerosis, idiopathic inflammatory myopathies, and vasculitides.

Recognizing the complexity and interconnected nature of these disorders, we employ a multidisciplinary strategy, and frequently collaborate with specialties such as pulmonology, nephrology, gastroenterology, cardiology, allergology, neurology, dermatology, surgery, and orthopedics.

Our department is also deeply involved in research and clinical trials aimed at discovering innovative treatments and improving patient outcomes. We prioritize a translational approach, bridging the gap between laboratory findings and clinical application to inform evidence-based practices.
