Anesthesiology

At Yale Medicine, our Department of Anesthesiology provides perioperative anesthesia and pain medicine services for adult and pediatric patients across a broad range of surgical and procedural specialties. We partner with referring physicians and procedural teams to support patients from preoperative risk assessment through intraoperative management and postoperative recovery, including care for medically complex and critically ill patients.

Our practice includes anesthesiologists and acute pain/pain medicine specialists working in coordinated teams with CRNAs, APRNs, PAs, nurses, and technicians. We emphasize evidence-based care, patient safety, and efficient perioperative pathways, with the goal of supporting optimal outcomes and a smooth care experience for patients and referring clinicians.

In our clinical research, we focus on developing technologies to improve patient safety and reduce perioperative care costs. Our translational research efforts are particularly strong in areas of regenerative medicine and vascular engineering.
