Promoting Equity through a Culturally-Tailored Prostate Cancer Genetics Video for African American Males for Impact Long-term - PREVAIL Study

  • Study IRB#:2000034160
  • Last Updated:05/21/2026

The purpose of the PREVAIL Study is to evaluate a genetic education video that will deliver information about genetic testing for African American men in a relatable way and increase access to genetic testing. African American men with prostate cancer or with a strong family history of cancer may be eligible for the study. Participants can choose to view the video or see a genetic counselor before making a decision for genetic testing, and the entire study can be done remotely. Genetic testing will be provided cost-free through the study for those who choose to be tested. In addition, participants will receive $25 for each questionnaire completed (total of $50 for 2 questionnaires). Overall, the study aims to make sure videos are an effective way to deliver genetic information to African American males, help with decision-making for prostate cancer genetic testing, and ultimately improve access to genetic testing.
