Definition

Pediatric orthopaedics is a specialized branch of medicine that focuses in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of musculoskeletal disorders in children. This includes congenital deformities, such as clubfoot and scoliosis; musculoskeletal injuries, such as fractures and sprains; and neuromuscular disorders, such as cerebral palsy. In addition, pediatric orthopaedics can also treat conditions such as sports-related injuries, growth plate injuries, and bone tumors.
