Maturity-Onset Diabetes of the Young (MODY)

Definition

Maturity-onset diabetes of the young (MODY) is a rare form of diabetes characterized by an early onset, typically before the age of 30, and an autosomal dominant inheritance pattern. It is caused by genetic mutations affecting the function of insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas, leading to impaired glucose metabolism and elevated blood sugar levels.
