Biography

Timothy Ryntz, MD, chief of gynecology at Bridgeport Hospital, provides comprehensive care for people with a range of gynecologic concerns, including complex conditions that may benefit from minimally invasive procedures. He tailors each treatment plan to the patient’s unique needs.

“Common symptoms like abnormal bleeding and pelvic pain can be caused by different gynecologic and nongynecologic conditions. An accurate diagnosis is critical for effective treatment, limiting unwanted side effects, and preventing recurrence.” Dr. Ryntz says. “Over the past two decades, tremendous advances in treatment have allowed us to address not only a patient’s condition, but how it affects every aspect of their life. That’s why care from experts in complex benign gynecology is so important.”

He is an associate professor of obstetrics, gynecology, and reproductive sciences at Yale School of Medicine, where he focuses on enhancing equitable access to care while mentoring the next generation of physicians. “The privilege of holding a space for patients who wrestle with an emotionally conflicted and medically complicated situation is among the greatest honors,” Dr. Ryntz says. “But guiding young physicians on their path to do similar work is the most rewarding. I know that what I have learned from the people I have cared for and from those who came before me, will endure and improve.”

Dr. Ryntz has a passion for design and the performing arts. He carries his unique style from personal to professional life. “It’s exciting to be affiliated with an institution like Yale that fosters not only great scientists, but top tier actors and artists.”

He completed his medical training at Saint Louis University School of Medicine and his residency at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He has co-authored chapters, contributed to the peer-reviewed literature in his field, and is a regular reviewer for the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology.
