Sarah Fineberg, MD, PhD
Biography
Sarah Fineberg, MD, PhD, is a psychiatrist interested in social neuroscience and disorders of social cognition, especially borderline personality disorder, which can involve intense emotions and difficulties in relationships. She also helps individuals experiencing trauma-related conditions.
As an assistant professor of psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Fineberg's research investigates the connection between social experiences and neural circuits in mental illness. She employs computer-based tasks and computational models to better understand these conditions and is interested in developing new treatments, such as real-time neurofeedback. She also values incorporating feedback from individuals with lived experiences into her research.
Dr. Fineberg completed her medical and doctoral degrees at the University of Iowa and continued her psychiatry training at Yale School of Medicine. She has been honored by the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention for her work.
Dr. Fineberg sees patients in the outpatient clinics at the Connecticut Mental Health Center and is not able to accept referrals from outside of that clinical setting.
