Biography

Sarah Ballatori, MD, is a musculoskeletal oncologist who specializes in diagnosing and treating benign and malignant bone and soft tissue tumors, metastatic disease, and limb salvage procedures—operations that aim to remove a tumor while preserving as much of the affected limb as possible. She offers care to patients of all ages and supports them from diagnosis through recovery.

Her approach to medicine is highly collaborative and centered on patient wellbeing. “My favorite part of my job is the relationships I build with my patients, my staff, and my colleagues,” Dr. Ballatori says. “It’s incredibly rewarding to learn about my patients’ goals and challenges, and it’s a privilege to help guide them through their journey toward recovery.” She achieves this by tailoring treatments and helping patients focus on each step of the process, which she believes fosters greater confidence and reduces uncertainty.

She is an assistant professor at Yale School of Medicine, where she pursues research aimed at advancing the understanding of musculoskeletal oncology. Her studies focus on improving treatments for bone and soft tissue tumors, helping to enhance both function and quality of life for people living with these conditions.

Dr. Ballatori received her medical training at Tufts University School of Medicine. She then completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at Washington University in St. Louis, followed by a fellowship in orthopaedic oncology at Harvard Medical School.
