Maria Christina Herrera, MD, MSHP

Maria Christina Herrera, MD, is a pediatrician specializing in adolescent medicine. She focuses on caring for adolescents and young adults, addressing conditions related to general health, substance use, and preventive care, including HIV prevention. Dr. Herrera works to enhance access to essential health services for marginalized youth.

As an assistant professor of pediatrics at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Herrera conducts research on the intersection of HIV and substance use among adolescents, aiming to improve prevention strategies and healthcare access.

Dr. Herrera completed her medical degree at Columbia University and a graduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania. She completed her residency at the University of California San Francisco Medical Center and a fellowship in adolescent medicine at the Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania.
