Justin Cottrell, MD
Biography
Justin Cottrell, MD, is a neurotology–lateral skull base surgeon. He evaluates and treats conditions related to hearing loss, and both benign and malignant tumors that affect the nerves and structures near the ear and base of the skull. Dr. Cottrell provides advanced care for patients with disabling hearing problems, offering surgical and nonsurgical options to help improve quality of life.
As an assistant professor at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Cottrell’s academic work is driven by an interest in how technology can lessen the impact of hearing and balance disorders. He completed his masters at MIT and has a research focus in areas of healthcare quality, medical imaging, and hearing restoration implants, aiming to create better solutions for patients facing these complex conditions.
Dr. Cottrell earned his medical degree from Western University, completed his residency in otolaryngology–head and neck surgery at the University of Toronto, and pursued fellowship training in neurotology–lateral skull base surgery at NYU Langone Health.
