Biography

Alexander Joseph Rossi, MD, is a colorectal surgeon who specializes in gastrointestinal surgery. He diagnoses and treats conditions related to the colon, rectum, and anus, such as colorectal cancer, diverticulitis, and inflammatory bowel disease. He takes a comprehensive approach to treating both cancerous and non-cancerous diseases of these areas and is skilled in minimally invasive surgical approaches.

As an assistant professor of surgery at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Rossi is involved in research that aims to improve patient care and treatment. He chose this field, he says, because he is able to make meaningful and direct impacts on patients.

“I get to spend my days doing what I love, and the smiles and gratitude I get from the patients that I have the privilege to care for,” he says. “We will take care of them to the best of our ability at every step of the way.”

Dr. Rossi received his medical degree from Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine, followed by a general surgery internship and residency at Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He also completed fellowships as a clinical staff fellow in surgical oncology at the National Institutes of Health | National Cancer Institute, and as a colon and rectal surgery fellow at the Ochsner Clinic.
