WATCHMAN Device

Definition

The WATCHMAN device is a small, implantable medical device designed to reduce the risk of stroke in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation who are not suitable for long-term anticoagulation therapy. It is implanted into the left atrial appendage of the heart to prevent blood clots from forming and entering the bloodstream.
