Brugada syndrome is a rare genetic disorder characterized by an abnormal heart rhythm (arrhythmia) that increases the risk of sudden cardiac arrest and other life-threatening complications. It is caused by a mutation in the genes responsible for regulating the flow of sodium ions in and out of the heart's muscle cells, leading to electrical instability in the heart.
