Biography

Sowmya Mahalingam, MD, MBBS, is an assistant professor in the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at Yale University School of Medicine. Her research interests include traumatic injuries to the head and neck, imaging of dementia, and neurodegenerative disorders. In addition to her clinical and research activities, she is actively involved in teaching radiology to residents in radiology and emergency medicine.

Dr. Mahalingam earned her medical degree from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, RadioDiagnosis, and her MBBS degree from Madras Medical College, also in India. She completed her residency in diagnostic radiology at Yale Diagnostic Radiology and accepted a faculty position in the Section of Emergency Radiology. She holds fellowships in abdominal imaging from the University of Washington, Seattle, and in neuroradiology from George Washington University.
