Ryan S. Levey, MD
Biography
Ryan Levey, MD, is a urologist who treats a variety of conditions in men and women, including blood in the urine, enlarged prostate (benign prostate hyperplasia), kidney stones, sexual dysfunction, and cancer.
Dr. Levey says he was drawn to the specialty because of its mix of seeing patients in the office and performing procedures in the operating room.
“I like when I can help people who are in pain or have a problem that might be impacting their daily life,” Dr. Levey says. “Many of our procedures, including those for kidney stones, are fairly straightforward, safe, and effective, and really help patients.”
Making connections with patients and putting them at ease is important, Dr. Levey says. “I take the time to really explain what is going on, which I think is one of the most important things physicians can do,” he says, adding that urology in particular is at the cutting edge when it comes to technology. “We are performing surgeries through smaller and smaller incisions, or with no incision at all in most cases, which allows patients to enjoy a faster recovery.”
For kidney stone surgery, Dr. Levey notes, patients can go home the same day. “People are able to return to work without any restrictions, immediately, which is really nice when we can help people that rapidly,” he says.
