Biography

Nancy J. DeGennaro, CNM, MPH, is passionate about her work as a certified nurse-midwife and says she loves participating in such an important event for families.

“I love getting to know my patients and teaching them as they navigate through pregnancy,” DeGennaro says. “I love coming to work each day. I have been involved in obstetrics for 40 years and still feel the same way I did when I started.”

When it comes to giving advice to pregnant women, DeGennaro tells them to trust their bodies. “Let your body do what it is meant to do,” she says.

DeGennaro is a proponent of group prenatal care, a model in which women meet regularly throughout their pregnancy along with a nurse-midwife or physician. “In this fashion, the medical provider is the facilitator, and the group members teach each other,” she says.
