Biography
James Shepherd, MD, PhD, is an infectious diseases specialist with special expertise in HIV and tuberculosis. He has advised the government of India on tuberculosis control, and directed research and treatment programs for TB and HIV in Botswana and Nigeria.
An associate professor of medicine at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Shepherd says he enjoys the variety of patients he meets, from young people with HIV to elderly hospitalized patients with healthcare-associated infections. He likes to take time to reassure worried patients, telling them, “All is possible, nothing is determined. We will make a plan together.”
