Biography

Hailey Evans, MD, is a neonatologist who specializes in caring for newborns with complex medical needs. She believes it is a privilege to guide families through some of their most challenging experiences, noting that, “Babies surprise us all the time. Even when I’m not feeling optimistic, I always have hope.” Dr. Evans especially values the opportunity to work with “the amazing parents of NICU babies” alongside her colleagues.

As an assistant professor of pediatrics at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Evans explores physician wellbeing and moral distress, particularly in neonatal intensive care settings. Her research has included qualitative studies of how neonatologists experience professional grief and the emotional impact of caring for critically ill infants. She aims to create interventions and curricula that help doctors, especially trainees, develop the leadership and communication skills needed for challenging clinical situations, from complex medical decisions to end-of-life care.

Dr. Evans completed her medical training at Tufts University, followed by residency and a year as chief resident at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. She subsequently completed a fellowship in neonatal–perinatal medicine at Harvard Medical School/Boston Children’s Hospital. Outside of work, she enjoys going to the gym, baking, tackling jigsaw puzzles, and traveling.
