Caroline Figgie, MD
Biography
Caroline Figgie, MD, is a pediatric endocrinologist who cares for children and adolescents with hormonal conditions, including type 1 and type 2 diabetes. She helps young patients and their families manage diabetes and other metabolic health concerns, guiding them toward healthy lifestyles and improved well-being. “I love helping patients and their families understand their own health and empowering them to advocate for themselves within the field of healthcare,” Dr. Figgie says.
She is dedicated to building lasting partnerships that foster trust and confidence. “My favorite part of my job is building long-term relationships with my patients and their families,” she explains. “I love getting to be a part of their lives as my patients grow, change, and become more independent.” Dr. Figgie also values the variety in her specialty, noting, “I chose to pursue pediatric endocrinology because it is a highly diverse field, so that every day in clinic would always be different and there would always be something new to learn.” She emphasizes the importance of listening: “I always want to make sure my patients and their families feel heard. Medicine, especially pediatrics, is a team sport where we are all working together with the goal of making sure the patient is as healthy as possible.”
As an assistant professor of pediatrics at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Figgie focuses her academic efforts on medical education and on improving diabetes and metabolic health care for children. After receiving her medical training at Case Western Reserve University, she completed a pediatric residency at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital, followed by a pediatric endocrinology fellowship in Hartford. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, crafting, and exploring new creative pursuits.
