Pediatric Gastroenterology & Hepatology

At Yale Medicine, our doctors provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care for children with complex gastrointestinal, hepatologic, and metabolic disorders, including inflammatory bowel disease, esophageal disorders, chronic diarrheal conditions, acute and chronic liver disease, and metabolic liver diseases such as lysosomal storage disorders.

Our program integrates expertise across pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, advanced GI nursing, clinical nutrition, radiology, surgery, and medical genetics, with close collaboration through Yale’s specialized inflammatory bowel disease and liver transplantation programs.

Our multidisciplinary model is tailored to disease-specific needs. For example, children with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease are managed through a coordinated team that includes hepatology, endocrinology, nutrition, and clinical psychology. We also offer advanced procedural and surgical options, including selective shunting for patients with noncirrhotic portal hypertension, ensuring access to the full spectrum of medical and interventional care.

Distinguishing Factors
