Emergency Medicine
Our emergency medicine physicians deliver rapid, high-acuity care across the full spectrum of emergency presentations for adults and pediatric patients with a focus on timely diagnosis, evidence-based resuscitation, and efficient disposition. We partner closely with hospitalists, intensivists, surgeons, and specialty services to streamline consults, admissions, and transfers, supporting continuity of care from intake through inpatient management and follow-up. All of our pediatric emergency departments provide child- and family-centered care, with trained support staff on hand, including pediatric nurses, social workers, and child-life specialists.

Pediatric Patients
A dedicated, separate pediatric emergency room at Yale New Haven Hospital’s York Street campus—the first Level I Trauma Center in Connecticut—provides additional services for children, including:
- 16 pediatric patient rooms, and two resuscitation trauma rooms
- Board-certified pediatric toxicologist
- A pediatric transport team available 24/7 to provide critical care to infants and children en route to the hospital
- Pediatric critical care transport paramedics on staff
- Pediatric Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Program
- 24/7 pediatric social worker
