Yale Medicine’s approach to childbirth combines centuries-old traditions with the most advanced medical practice. Jessica Illuzzi, MD, Associate Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences, explains how her team works closely with each mom to create a personalized, safe birthing experience. For instance, she explains, "A vaginal delivery after cesarean can actually be safe and may even prevent future pregnancy complications. Here at Yale, we really try hard to make sure that women know this is an option for them and to support them in that option. I really believe that we can make the hospital setting a place where women can come and know that we respect their decisions so they can achieve the experience that they desire."
