Definition

Rubella, also known as German measles, is a viral infection characterized by a distinctive red rash, mild fever, and swollen lymph nodes. It is caused by the Rubella virus and primarily spreads through respiratory droplets from an infected person. While the infection is generally mild in children and adults, it can cause severe complications for pregnant women, including birth defects and miscarriage.
