Pulmonary Sequestration

Definition

Pulmonary sequestration is a rare congenital lung malformation characterized by the presence of non-functioning lung tissue that lacks normal connection to the bronchial airways and receives blood supply from an anomalous systemic artery. This abnormal lung tissue does not contribute to the respiratory function and may lead to complications such as recurrent infections, respiratory distress, or hemoptysis.
