Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA)

Definition

Prostate specific antigen (PSA) is a protein produced by the prostate gland, which can be measured in the blood. Elevated levels of PSA may indicate the presence of prostate cancer, benign prostatic hyperplasia, or inflammation of the prostate. A PSA test is commonly used as a screening tool for detecting prostate cancer in men.
