Pneumoconiosis

Definition

Pneumoconiosis is a group of lung diseases caused by the inhalation of dust particles, leading to inflammation, fibrosis, and scarring of lung tissue. Common types of pneumoconiosis include silicosis, asbestosis, and coal worker's pneumoconiosis (black lung disease). The severity and progression of the disease depend on the type and amount of dust inhaled, as well as the duration of exposure.
