Pilonidal Cyst

Definition

A pilonidal cyst is a small sac-like structure that forms in the crease of the buttocks, near the tailbone. It is filled with hair, skin debris, and other tissue, and can become infected, causing pain, redness, and swelling. Pilonidal cysts are more common in young men and can be caused by prolonged sitting, obesity, or a family history of the condition.
