Minimally Invasive Video-Assisted Thyroidectomy

Definition

Minimally invasive video-assisted thyroidectomy (MIVAT) is a surgical technique that involves the removal of all or part of the thyroid gland through a small incision in the neck. This procedure utilizes an endoscope and specialized instruments to visualize and access the thyroid gland, resulting in less tissue trauma, reduced scarring, and faster recovery time compared to traditional open thyroidectomy.
