Definition

Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) is a rare benign neoplasm composed of myofibroblastic cells and inflammatory cells, which can occur in various parts of the body. It is characterized by the presence of spindle-shaped cells and an inflammatory infiltrate. IMTs can mimic malignant tumors and may cause symptoms depending on their location and size.
