Gastrointestinal Neuroendocrine Tumors

Definition

Gastrointestinal neuroendocrine tumors (GI-NETs) are a group of rare neoplasms that arise from the neuroendocrine cells within the gastrointestinal tract. These cells produce hormones and other substances that help regulate various bodily functions. GI-NETs can be benign or malignant and may cause a variety of symptoms depending on their location and the hormones they produce.
