Definition

Desquamative interstitial pneumonia (DIP) is a rare form of interstitial lung disease characterized by the accumulation of macrophages (a type of white blood cell) within the alveoli (tiny air sacs), leading to inflammation and damage to the lung tissue. This condition can result in progressive respiratory symptoms and impaired lung function.
