Biography

Raymond Yukun Cai, MD, is a pediatric emergency medicine doctor who cares for children with urgent and serious illnesses and injuries. He treats infants, children, and teenagers who come to the emergency department with problems such as trouble breathing, fever, infections, injuries, and other sudden health concerns.

Dr. Cai evaluates each child’s condition quickly and carefully to decide what tests or treatments are needed. He works with families during stressful moments and explains what is happening in clear, direct language. He focuses on keeping children as comfortable as possible while addressing their medical needs and helping parents understand each step in the child’s care.

In addition to his clinical work in the emergency department, Dr. Cai is a clinical fellow at Yale School of Medicine. In this role, he continues to build his skills in pediatric emergency medicine while working alongside other pediatric specialists to care for children with a wide range of conditions.

Dr. Cai earned his medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He completed a residency in pediatrics at Children’s Hospital of Montefiore and then worked as an emergency department pediatrician at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia before continuing his training in pediatric emergency medicine at Yale.
