Biography

Peter D. Block, MD, is a gastroenterologist and transplant hepatologist who specializes in managing digestive diseases, particularly focusing on chronic liver conditions such as hepatitis B, liver cancer, and cirrhosis. Dr. Block performs a variety of endoscopic procedures, including diagnostic and therapeutic upper endoscopies and colonoscopies.

At Yale School of Medicine, he serves as an assistant professor of medicine, actively involved in teaching medical students and clinical trainees. His research is centered on improving health outcomes for patients with chronic liver diseases.

Dr. Block earned his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University, followed by a residency in internal medicine at the same institution. He further specialized in gastroenterology and hepatology during his fellowship at Yale School of Medicine and pursued additional training in advanced liver diseases and transplant hepatology at NYU Langone Health.
