Biography

Lauren Pischel, MD, is an infectious disease specialist who focuses on managing and treating infectious diseases. She specializes in understanding the transmission and impact of diseases such as COVID-19 and influenza, while also working to estimate vaccine effectiveness. She uses a variety of methods to study how these diseases spread within households and communities.

As an assistant professor of medicine at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Pischel is involved in research concerning the epidemiology of respiratory pathogens and emerging infectious diseases. She also examines how climate change and environmental factors affect infectious disease patterns.

Dr. Pischel received her medical training at Stanford School of Medicine and completed her residency in internal medicine at Yale, where she also pursued a fellowship in infectious diseases.
