MR-Guided Ultrasound: A Treatment Option for Tremor, Parkinson’s

July 13, 2026

Tremors can make everyday tasks—such as writing, eating, or drinking from a cup—more difficult for people with Parkinson’s disease or essential tremor. MR-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound is a noninvasive procedure that uses targeted ultrasound waves to treat specific areas of the brain involved in tremor. Yale School of Medicine researchers are helping advance understanding of this technology and its role in treating movement disorders. Learn more about this treatment approach in the video above.
