A Study of Brenipatide (GLP-1) in Adult Participants With Schizophrenia (RENEW-Scz-1)

The purpose of this research study is to learn more about brenipatide (a GLP-1) , a possible new investigational drug for the treatment of schizophrenia.

The study aims to see:

• Whether the drug is effective alongside participant's standard schizophrenia treatment
• Whether the drug helps weight loss/management
• Whether the drug helps thinking and memory
• Whether the drug prevents schizophrenia symptoms from returning
  

Requirements and What’s Involved:

To be in this study you must:

• Be Diagnosed with Schizophrenia
• Be Age 18-55
• Have a BMI of >22
• Be Willing to participate for a full year and take drug once a week during this period
• This includes 14 in-person visits, 10 telehealth visits
• These visits include clinical assessments, physical assessments, blood testing, urine testing etc.
• Stay on their current schizophrenia standard of care for the whole study
• Have a study partner accompany you to in-person visits
• This is a person that knows you well, that can answer questions about you and how you’re feeling

Payments:

The participant will be paid ~$100 per study visit and the study partner will be paid this amount for the in-person visits that they come to.
