Cardiovascular Genomics and Imaging for Precision Medicine in Aortic Disease

  • Study IRB#:2000041429
  • Last Updated:10/28/2026

The purpose of this study is to improve our understanding of the causes of cardiovascular disease and to develop better ways to provide patients with a diagnosis and a prognosis and to discover better ways to treat patients.

Individuals that can participate are those that have aortic disease (also termed “aortopathy”) and/or aortic valve disease, one of their family members has aortic disease and/or aortic valve disease, those that are genetically at risk for developing aortic disease and/or aortic valve disease, and those that are not affected by aortic disease and/or aortic valve disease and are having tissue removed during a surgical procedure.

Study procedures will include:

(1) Collection of samples from a blood draw, cheek swab, or saliva

(2) Collection of leftover tissue if you have a heart surgery or other procedure that involves removal of tissue

(3) Collection of family history information

(4) Medical history review.
