Venous Thromboembolism (VTE)

Definition

Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a medical condition characterized by the formation of blood clots in the deep veins, typically in the legs, which can break loose and travel through the bloodstream to other parts of the body, such as the lungs. This can cause a potentially life-threatening condition called pulmonary embolism.
