Vaginal atrophy, also known as atrophic vaginitis, is a condition characterized by the thinning, drying, and inflammation of the vaginal walls due to a decrease in estrogen levels. This typically occurs during menopause but can also result from other factors such as breastfeeding, certain medications, or medical treatments.
