Therapeutic radiology, also known as radiation therapy or radiotherapy, is a medical treatment that uses high-energy radiation to target and destroy cancer cells or control their growth. It can be used alone or in combination with other treatments such as surgery and chemotherapy. The radiation can be delivered externally using a machine, or internally through the placement of radioactive material near the tumor.
