Staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome (SSSS) is a rare and severe skin condition caused by the release of toxins from certain strains of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The toxins lead to the breakdown in the outer layers of the skin, resulting in widespread blistering, redness, and peeling that resembles scalding.
