Secondary erythrocytosis, also known as secondary polycythemia, is a condition characterized by an increased number of red blood cells in the bloodstream. It occurs as a response to external factors or underlying medical conditions that lead to increased production of erythropoietin, a hormone that stimulates red blood cell production.
