Rumination syndrome is a rare and chronic functional gastrointestinal disorder characterized by the involuntary regurgitation of recently ingested food or liquid from the stomach back into the mouth, followed by either re-swallowing or spitting out. This condition typically occurs within minutes after a meal and is not associated with nausea or retching.
