Renal (kidney) Osteodystrophy

Definition

Renal osteodystrophy is a bone disorder that occurs as a result of kidney dysfunction, specifically in patients with chronic kidney disease. The condition is characterized by abnormal bone mineralization, leading to weakened bones and an increased risk of fractures. It is caused by imbalances in calcium, phosphorus, and parathyroid hormone levels due to impaired kidney function.
