Pulmonary Arteriovenous Fistula (PAF)

Definition

Pulmonary arteriovenous fistula (PAF) is a rare vascular anomaly characterized by an abnormal connection between the pulmonary arteries and veins, allowing blood to bypass the capillary bed in the lungs. This can lead to reduced oxygenation of the blood and various complications, including stroke, brain abscess, and heart failure.
